Getting ready for an exciting year ahead at the Nursery

Although it’s been extremely cold and wet here over the last few weeks, we can’t help but feel like Spring is just around the corner. Bulbs are shooting up and Snowdrops are scattered in borders and verges all around.
This is when all of last years hard work starts to pay off, as seeds sown late last summer begin to flourish. One of our very popular varieties, Festuca glauca ‘Elijah Blue’, (shown on the table) is one example.
The greenhouses are also jam-packed with other grasses, all divided from plants last year. Ready to buy from May, these include: Miscanthus sinensis ‘Flamingo’, Sesleria autumnalis , Hakonechloa macra and Pennisetum orientale ‘Tall Tails’
In addition to our regular grasses, we have some new varieties for 2018. These include the Hakonechloa macra ‘Ben Kaze’, which is a lovely grass that matures into a mound form. Its flowing leaves start as a rich green, which then develop from red tips to a more intense red coverage during the Autumn. The movement and colour development of this grass provides interest throughout the seasons. Other new additions to the website in the coming months include Molinia cerulean ‘Poul Petersen’ and the Miscanthus sinensis ‘Dreadlocks’.

The Nursery will re-open for the 2018 season on the 1st March. Our opening hours will be Monday-Saturday 9 - 4.30. We recommend calling before you intend visiting. We look forward to seeing you!
